The goal of creating sustainable concepts
As an industrial process, vin2food offers the opportunity to reduce the social and ecological effects caused by increased cultivation of energy crops, to harmonise the objectives of foodstuffs and energy production and, at the same time, to make a contribution to food security for the world's population.
The goal when separating the vinasse into two fractions is to develop sustainable concepts for use in production of foodstuffs. Alongside the use of vinasse as a nutritive medium for the cultivation of microalgae, Artemia and zooplankton, vin2food also enables process water from the vinasse process to be cleaned by reducing the inorganic salt content, thereby allowing the water to be re-used for further processes.
